It’s always my dream to travel to China. It all started when I was a little girl, watched kung fu series and movies. I was fascinated with the costumes. Along the time, I read about the history and inspired me to learn Mandarin.
Mandarin is one of the language that commonly use in the world. So it would be nice if one day I wake up and be fluent in Mandarin, considering this language is complicated one. Wrong intonation, wrong meaning. Not to mention the letters,,, a lot! So it will be cool if one day the magic comes to me, make me fluent in Mandarin.
The first thing I want to do is applying to a place where they need Mandarin speakers. Probably like embassy or commercial companies. I saw lots of job vacancy requires fluency in Mandarin. It will be a good opportunity for my career. Who knows, I can visit China one day for business trip hehehe.
Lots of place to visit in China. With my knowledge in Mandarin, I can communicate easily with locals and understand what is written. With that, I also can good bargain to when I go shopping hehehe. I do believe speaking Mandarin will open lots of opportunity for me…
*Prompt 16 April: If you could wake up tomorrow and be fluent in any language you don’t currently speak, which would it be? Why? What’s the first thing you do with your new linguistic skills? Take That, Rosetta!
My background in college was Broadcasting and Mass Communication. I have to say, my likeness of writing grew when I was in college. Not to mention, my final project I took the role as script writer.
If I want to make my own movie, there is one role I really like to take. As a Producer. I once took a role as a director. I don’t think I fit as a director hehehehe. That’s why I want to try another role. I also don’t want to be a performer as well. I’m more comfortable to be person behind the screen.
I must admit, I have a tendencies to be a control freak. Being a producer, I have to supervise from preproduction to post production processes of a movie. Design every detail, from location, budgeting to creative suggestions and decisions. Lots of discussions and probably debates all the way. Producing a movie involving lots of people.
For me, the best part as a producer is you finally see your movie is finish. The box office result is a bonus. At least I can share the team work to public.
*Prompt 30 March: If you were involved in a movie, would you rather be the director, the producer, or the lead performer? (Note: you can’t be the writer!). The Show Must Go On
If people asked me which country I wanna go to live, I will definitely say United Kingdom.
My first job was in British Council Indonesia so that’s my first influence about UK. I got knowledge about UK education system and made me dream to continue my study in UK. The more I explore about UK, I deeply fall in love with UK. Probably I will say I fall in love with Great Britain.
As a history lover, Great Britain offered lots of historical sites and the story behind it. I always love big castles, kings and their politics, also love stories (tragic or happy ending). Great Britain offered them all. With exploring one region, I will have lots of stories to share.
Experiencing Great Britain also I got from my friends. Lots of my friends continue their study in universities across Great Britain. They shared pictures and also their campus stories during their stay in Great Britain. Their stories inspires me to continue my study in one of the universities in Great Britain.
I also have personal connection with Great Britain. I once had a relationship someone from Manchester. Every night (in my timezone) we Skyped and he would tell me all about great spots in Great Britain. He showed me lots of pictures and made me fall in love more with this region.
Considering that study for Master degree in Great Britain takes 1 year, so it suits the purpose. I always say to myself, each step leads to another. So I’ve made my first step, hopefully it will lead me to my dream region.
*Prompt 12 March: If you were asked to spend a year living in a different location, where would you choose and why? Study Abroad
Due to my hiatus, I will post 2 prompts today. This is the first one.
The prompt quite interesting. If I was guaranteed not to fail, what will I try? The answer is I want to make a festival. What kind of festival?
There are some festivals I want to make. First, a dance music festival. In late 2014, me and my boyfriend set up a really small business called Rave Colony. Currently we active in Twitter, Facebook and G+. Started with clothing, in January 2015 we expanded our focus to DJ Management, event photography and media partner. Our dream is to have a dance festival with all local DJ. The rising stars, the heroes and the legends, all gather in one festival. Big festival in JIEXPO Kemayoran or even GWK Bali. It’s still long way since we still start in first step. We still need to talk with lots of DJ, open new channels to expand our network, also build our reputation. We still keep our dream. Long way to go but we will get there.
Second festival, a Star Trek Convention in Indonesia. I joined Indo Star Trek, an Indonesian community for Star Trek fans. It’s been our dream to be at Star Trek Convention. If we want to go to Star Trek Convention, we still need to go to Las Vegas every year. We always dream to have a convention in Asia, where all the fans gather and can share same aspiration in Star Trek. It’s a big dream. Kinda difficult for us to have that kind of convention. We started little, by having our own Star Trek Day. It’s a starting point. If we can prove to the world that we’re not passive community, there will be a time we have investors and partners to pull this off.
Yes, I’m sure one day we can achieve this.
*Prompt 10 March: Tell us about something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail (and tell us why you haven’t tried it yet). Too Big To Fail
