My Playlist

I want to share my playlist this week. I will give 5 songs that stuck in my head. Here we go!

1. The Weeknd – Earned It

One of the song inside “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack album. In my opinion, this song should be the main song, not Ellie Goulding’s. The reason? Just read the lyrics. It described perfectly of how Christian Grey’s admiration to Anastasia Steele. Period.

2. SNSD – Catch Me If You Can

You didn’t expect that I will listen to K-Pop songs, right? Well, I love the new sound of this girls. That’s why I keep it on my playlist. Very catchy tunes!

3. Tiesto & KSHMR feat. Vassy – Secrets

I love Tiesto! Every time he released new track, I always listen with enthusiastic. Including this song. When it comes to Tiesto, I’m not gonna say much.

4. Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz – Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix)

The lyrics is simple. The melody really catchy. This song made me fall in love with Robin Schulz. This song made me love Deep House.

5. Calvin Harris feat Gwen Stefani – Together

I love this song because the lyrics kinda represents my feeling to my boyfriend. Beside, Gwen Stefani’s voice really one of a kind and fit the song.

So that’s the song I listened intensively this week. What’s yours?

Me and EDM

Nowadays, I’m listening to electronic dance music. EDM, for short. My friends asked why I suddenly listening to this kind of music. Actually, I already listen to EDM from 11 years ago. They just don’t know that fact.

I can still remember the first song I heard. It was Traffic by Tiesto. When the song reached the middle, I felt like I’m out of body. Totally new experience for me. It was in my friend’s car and she is an EDM fan. She gave me some of her collection and I started listened to it. So yeah, I’m not that new to this kind of music.

The reason is simple. It was personal thing and personal taste. I keep it in a closet because I don’t expect people to understand my choice of music. Other people tend to judge our unusual taste. For me, that’s ridiculous. Now, why I declare my love to EDM?

I found friends that makes me enjoy EDM in different way. Previously, I enjoy EDM only the song, now I explore the history of the genres and the musicians. Meaning, I read Wikipedia and various source just to know more about EDM.

Due to this reason, I set up a dedicated page to EDM in my other blog. Contains tracks I’m listening and also review about it. Kinda slow now, but I’m trying to update it as soon as possible. Hopefully, I can contribute not only as a groupies, but involve more in industry as well.

My Mentor

Talking about  mentor, I don’t think I have specific person I can consider as my mentor. My late Mum doesn’t count, she will always be my mentor for the rest of my life.

If I have to say who is my mentor,,, I have to admit that Spice Girls is my mentor.

Why this particular girl group? I have to thank them because they accompanied me during hard time. My parents divorced and although I have no problem in school, I still felt different than the other kids. In elementary school, I was blessed with lots of friends, good grades and actively involved in competitions representing schools. Yet I still felt something was missing.

That’s when the first time I saw this video.

All I could see was 5 girls running here and there. They looked so lively. Apparently not only me who fascinated about this group. My classmates also love the song and video. I asked my Mum to bought the album and she did. I listened to the album everyday.

I read the lyrics but didn’t understand back then. All I know, every time I listened to their songs, it felt so good. Years later, I realized how powerful their lyrics, encouraged girls to speak up and be confident of themselves. As a young girl who was going through tough time, I always felt they gave courage to do something I love. That I can do something good, not only for me but also other people.

You can argue me about them, I don’t care. Spice Girls will always be my hero…

All Is Well

Many times I was saved by the bell. Often I was asked to do something I really don’t want or I want something but I don’t know how to get it. In the end, I have the last laugh because things went the way I want. Like the last event last month.

My other side job is freelance reporter. On January, my colleague said I will cover One Direction concert. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of One Direction. I like their songs, but that’s it. I think my ideal version of boyband already occupied with Backstreet Boys or Boyzone. So when I got the assignment, I’m not too excited.

Every 2 weeks, he gave me an update. I kinda stressed a bit. I told my boyfriend that if I can switch with other person, I would love to. Three days before the actual concert, I asked my colleague, am I the one that will go to One Direction concert. They said yes because they already sent my data to the organizer.

Finally the day came. I already prepared even though with half heart. On the bus, I contacted the PIC about the media ID. Surprisingly, the PIC replied that the name that registered wasn’t me, but my colleague. I captured the chat and sent it to the group chat. Suddenly, the chat room was busy confirming. Yes, people, it wasn’t me they chose although my colleague sent my data. While my colleague contacted the PIC, I prayed so hard it wasn’t me.

The universe seems conspire with me. In the afternoon, rain poured so hard. It felt like the universe answering my prayers. Then the news came,,, it was confirm that my colleague will go cover the event. When I received the news, I was jumping like a little kid. Finally!

I was saved from watching One Direction and could go to another place and hangout with friends hehehe

A Festival Of My Own

Due to my hiatus, I will post 2 prompts today. This is the first one.

The prompt quite interesting. If I was guaranteed not to fail, what will I try? The answer is I want to make a festival. What kind of festival?

There are some festivals I want to make. First, a dance music festival. In late 2014, me and my boyfriend set up a really small business called Rave Colony. Currently we active in Twitter, Facebook and G+. Started with clothing, in January 2015 we expanded our focus to DJ Management, event photography and media partner. Our dream is to have a dance festival with all local DJ. The rising stars, the heroes and the legends, all gather in one festival. Big festival in JIEXPO Kemayoran or even GWK Bali. It’s still long way since we still start in first step. We still need to talk with lots of DJ, open new channels to expand our network, also build our reputation. We still keep our dream. Long way to go but we will get there.

Second festival, a Star Trek Convention in Indonesia. I joined Indo Star Trek, an Indonesian community for Star Trek fans. It’s been our dream to be at Star Trek Convention. If we want to go to Star Trek Convention, we still need to go to Las Vegas every year. We always dream to have a convention in Asia, where all the fans gather and can share same aspiration in Star Trek. It’s a big dream. Kinda difficult for us to have that kind of convention. We started little, by having our own Star Trek Day. It’s a starting point. If we can prove to the world that we’re not passive community, there will be a time we have investors and partners to pull this off.

Yes, I’m sure one day we can achieve this.
